Why Should You Repurpose Your Podcast Episodes into Blog Posts?

1: Relying on an Algorithm is Risky

Building your entire business on a platform that can change its algorithm at any moment is a risk.

Social media platforms have shown us this in recent years with sudden algorithm changes, bans, and shifting content formats.

Keeping up with Instagram feels like you’re trying to keep up with a 3-year-old in a trampoline park - exhausting.

By repurposing your podcast episodes into blog posts, you can reduce your reliance on platforms and have a more stable, long-lasting content strategy.

And that my friend, is a smart business move. 👍

When I entered the coaching industry, I was shocked that all coaches were talking about getting clients on Instagram.

I’m not saying that you can’t but it’s not the only way and it’s okay if that doesn't work for you.

Using Instagram wasn’t my cup of tea to get new clients. Instead, I wanted to attract new leads and make sales even while I wasn’t on the app.

That’s why evergreen blog content is so powerful. It’s a part of your team 24/7.

2: Blog Content is Evergreen

Unlike social media content, blog posts have a lifespan that stretches far beyond a few hours.

Blog posts can remain relevant and continue to attract readers for years to come.

By creating optimized blog posts, you increase your chances of ranking on search engines and continually drive a steady stream of traffic to your content.

You can also update and edit blog posts anytime.

✅ So if information has been updated or you want to promote a new offer within a piece of content you can just update that.

3: Reaching New Clients and Customers

As social media platforms become increasingly saturated and challenging to reach new audiences, blogs offer a different avenue.

🎧 By properly optimizing your blog posts, you can rank on search engine results pages, capturing the attention of individuals searching for topics related to your podcast.

This presents an incredible opportunity to expose your business to a fresh audience and to get MORE podcast listeners and subscribers.

4: Build Trust and Reputation

Blogs provide a platform where you can showcase your expertise and build trust with your audience.

With a blog, you become an industry leader. 👩‍💼

By consistently publishing valuable content within your niche, readers will recognize your expertise, leading to more customers, clients, email subscribers, and podcast listeners.

5: Improve Podcast SEO

Creating content that complements your podcast episodes boosts your podcast's search engine optimization (SEO).

By having valuable written content on your website that aligns with your podcast topics, search engines will view your website as more of an authority, helping you rank higher and attract more listeners.

2 ways to repurpose Podcast content with ease

Workflow 1: Repurposing Your Existing Content into Blog Posts through Transcription

The easiest way to repurpose your podcast episodes is to transcribe and format them into blog posts.

However, it's important to note that a transcription alone is NOT a blog post.

Transcriptions contain added language and lack the precision and structure needed for an engaging and most importantly, converting blog post.

To optimize your blog post, follow these steps:

  1. Format for SEO: Adjust the transcription to fit a blog post format, breaking it up into well-structured sections.
  2. Break it Down: Divide the blog post into easily digestible sections using headers and subheaders.
  3. Optimize for Readability: Ensure that your writing style suits a blog post, making it more concise and to the point compared to spoken content.
  4. Add Visuals: Include relevant images, infographics, or screenshots to enhance the reader's experience and to make it more visually appealing.
  5. Link Building: Incorporate internal and external links to provide additional resources and support any claims you make.
  6. Call to Action: Encourage readers to take action by providing a clear call to actions throughout your blog post.

My favourite tool to transcribe is Descript. They also have some AI features where it will pump out a blog post based on your transcription.

Just make sure if you do this, to not just copy and paste but add to it and make it your own.

An AI tool is not going to give your blog post personality, which is one of the ways ideal customers convert via a blog post so make sure you add your special touch.

Workflow 2: Create Complementary Blog Posts for your podcast episodes

For this workflow, create blog posts that complement your podcast episodes.

Use your podcast outline or script as a starting point and expand on the topics discussed in your episodes.

This approach allows you to offer your audience additional tips, resources, and insights they can't find in the podcast episode alone.

Here's how to do this workflow:

  1. Use Your Outline: Take your podcast outline or script and use it as an outline for your blog post.
  2. Go Deeper: Explore the topics further by providing extra tips, advice, or examples related to your podcast episode.
  3. Call to Action: Encourage readers to listen to the podcast episode that fits well with this blog post. AND also on your podcast episode, mention you have a blog post that gives you additional tips or resources. This will move people through to your website easily.
  4. Writing Style: Ensure the blog post maintains a conversational tone while offering valuable information to the reader.
  5. Enhance with Visuals: Include relevant visuals, such as images or diagrams, to support your content and engage the reader.

Repurposing your podcast episodes into optimized blog posts is an excellent strategy to expand your reach and visibility, improve your content's lifetime value, and attract new ideal clients.

Whether you choose to repurpose your existing content or create complementary blog posts, both workflows provide the results you’re looking for which is to;

✅ Grow your podcast

✅ Drive more perfect leads to your email list

✅ Make more sales on autopilot
